Occupational and Physical Therapy
for complex kids
with simple needs

Welcome to Attic Therapy

...a space where we can collaborate towards a more inclusive environment for children

Kids are astounding in their ability to grow and take on new challenges, despite obstacles, disruptions, and difficulties. Reducing barriers to full engagement in meaningful and satisfying work, play, and growing independence is what we are all about.

Attic Therapy's involvement means...

...help in identifying what is holding kids back, and collaborative problem-solving to help clear the way so they can learn and grow and enjoy life in an inclusive community.

Inclusive Firewood Processing

adapting a common resource-harvesting process for kids with diverse cognitive, physical and developmental abilities...Dan has just wrapped up the first winter season supporting students in this real world, multi sensory,  highly engaging skill. Students enjoyed the experience of working hard, together, outdoors, and with a tangible product they could take home to share with families, or resell!

One Hard Thing Podcast is also available wherever you get your podcasts. The first season is themed  Untangling Complexity and deals with all the ways inclusion efforts can be made more difficult than they need to be. This podcast is meant as practical encouragement for anyone who cares about including all kids, everywhere.

Rehab Sciences Presentation 2019

This presentation, given at a Rehabilitation Sciences conference in the University of Saskatchewan, aimed at articulating how the skills of an occupational therapist, in a multidisciplinary team, could be targeted towards  supporting an inclusive education system, rather than trying to individually remediate deficits of learners.

Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT)  Presentation 2020

Occupational therapy as a profession is evolving to be responsive to the needs of the education system as a whole, rather than simply trying to provide health care within it. This presentation was given to the National Conference of CAOT in 2020.

Virtually, of course.
